17th Street Residence

This modern farmhouse by Starr Design Group exudes deep character and soul. The interiors were designed and decorated by the homeowner with the help of Caitlin. The original vision was to have a brand-new home that felt like it had been in the family for generations. The mixing of reclaimed, vintage materials and crisp new millwork created a perfect harmony the owner desired. We are so happy we were able to make her dream come true! This melding of the old with the new is illustrated throughout the home in a cohesive way. You can feel it as you ascend the wide stairs up to the covered front porch, reminiscent of the South. The steel entry doors open to the foyer with a reclaimed knotty pine, tongue and groove ceiling and new Belgian reproduction tile. The homeowner wanted to use white painted wood paneling and white painted brick throughout the home as an homage to her country roots. She paired the fresh, clean look of those white elements with antique pine doors, sourced from a home originally built in 1860. The backyard was created to encourage friends and family to gather, with a custom fire pit and outdoor kitchen with poured concrete counters. Our favorite part of the backyard? A cotton candy-pink 1950s trailer. We could go on and on about what makes this home perfectly unique, but suffice it to say we are immensely proud of it!

This stunning modern home (formerly a traditional Cape Cod) was created to capture the sweeping views offered in the Hill Section of Manhattan Beach. This home maximizes indoor and outdoor space for entertaining. The family-of-six home is equipped to entertain large parties while maintaining an intimate family ambiance.

Twelve-foot ceilings guide visitors through the living area and kitchen. The use of wood, stone, glass and metal makes each room unique and at the same time provides a natural flow in the space. The courtyard makes great use of a smaller outdoor space, located directly off the kitchen and dining room. The backyard is equipped with a full bar, swimming pool and circular bench around a fire-pit, making it the perfect gathering place for family and friends.
